Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Eljem - Monastir - Sousse 


Following breakfast, we will proceed to The Amphitheatre of El Jem in Tunisia a massive, remarkably well-preserved Roman ruin, rivaling the Colosseum in Rome, built around 238 AD to host spectacles for up to 35,000 people, showcasing incredible Roman engineering with its stone-block construction, tiered seating, and underground hypogeum for animals and gladiators, standing today as a UNESCO World Heritage site and a symbol of Roman Africa's grandeur.


Lunch will be provided in Local restaurant in el jem 


we will proceed then to the city, which experienced its greatest development under the rule of the first president of independent Tunisia, Habib Bourguiba. Visit to his mausoleum Monastir was one of the film locations during the filming of Monty Python's „Life of Brian”.


 Then ahead to Sousse Leisurely strolls through the streets of the Medina. 

Upon completion of our activities, we will return to the hotel and subsequently enjoy the Diner and a period of relaxation for the remainder of the day.


Day 2:  Tunis – Carthage – Sidi bou saïd


After breakfast we go to visit to the city center of Tunis includes a walk through the extensive labyrinth of narrow streets within the Tunisian medina, where one can discover its various corners. This includes viewing the Al-Zaytuna Mosque, which is among Tunisia's oldest and most significant mosques, established around 732 AD

in the heart of the medina, often referred to as the "navel of the city."  


Then we continue to Bardo Museum recognized as one of the world's preeminent archaeological institutions, showcases an extraordinary collection encompassing prehistoric, ancient, and Islamic art, notably featuring a globally significant and unparalleled array of mosaics.  


We will proceed to Carthage currently a district within Tunis, houses the presidential residence and exclusive villa estates for the Tunisian elite. Historically, it served as the heart of the Phoenician Empire and subsequently as a Roman province in North Africa. We will be visiting the extensive ruins of the Antonine Baths, which date back to the 2nd-3rd centuries AD.


Lunch will be served at local restaurant.


Then we go to Sidi Bou Said a picturesque Tunisian village situated near Tunis, is renowned for its striking blue-and-white architecture, charming cobbled streets, and breathtaking sea views. Named after a revered Sufi saint, this locale has become a popular tourist destination and a haven for artists. It offers a delightful retreat with its artisan shops, traditional cafes (such as Café des Nattes), and stunning Mediterranean vistas, thereby preserving its unique cultural heritage. Will be back to the hotel Dinner and overnight accommodation will be provided.


Day 3: kairouan – Tozeur  

 

Following breakfast, we will proceed to Explore Kairouan the fourth holiest city in Islam. Established in 670, it served as a pivotal location during the Arab conquest of North Africa and flourished as a prominent center for Islamic scholarship and artistic expression. The city's extensive architectural legacy is recognized and protected by UNESCO. Our itinerary includes a visit to the Great Mosque, the oldest in North Africa, founded in 670, notable for its minaret which evokes the design of a Gothic castle tower. Subsequently, we will visit the exquisitely adorned Sidi Sahbi Mausoleum, also known as the Hairdresser's Mosque, featuring vibrant mosaics and intricate stucco work. We will then proceed to admire the restored Aghlabid Basins, which date back to the 9th century. Notably, the film "Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark" was partially filmed in Kairouan. Concluding our visit, you will have free time to explore the medina, where you can acquire souvenirs from the traditional Arab market. 


Lunch will be served at local restaurant.


Following lunch, we will proceed to Tozeur, a historic oasis city in Tunisia's southwest. Known as the "Pearl of the Desert," Tozeur is renowned for its extensive palm groves, exceptional dates, distinctive brick architecture featuring geometric patterns, and its strategic position as a gateway to the Sahara Desert, where we will be spending the night. Dinner and overnight accommodation will be provided


Day 4: Chebika - tamerza 


Following breakfast, we will proceed to Chebika an exquisite mountain oasis nestled in western Tunisia near the Algerian border, is renowned for its verdant palm groves, natural springs, and a captivating waterfall that descends into a pristine pool. This remarkable setting is framed by dramatic desert mountains and the remnants of an ancient Berber village, presenting an idyllic retreat for those seeking natural beauty, historical insights, and hiking opportunities. Affectionately known as the "Palace of the Sun," Chebika offers a profound appreciation for Tunisia's diverse landscape and rich heritage.

 

we will proceed to Tamerza, Tunisia's most expansive mountain oasis, is renowned for its breathtaking canyon, perennial waterfalls, and the evocative ruins of its former village, which was deserted following severe rainfall in 1969. This location presents a striking juxtaposition of verdant flora against arid, mountainous terrain, providing opportunities for hiking, photography, and an insight into traditional Berber culture near the Algerian border, thereby drawing visitors who appreciate natural splendor and historical significance.

 

Upon completion of our activities, we will return to the hotel and subsequently enjoy the lunch and a period of relaxation for the remainder of the day. 


For those interested in an excursion to Ong Jmal, an additional on-site payment will be required. Ong Jmal (also known as Ong Jemel) a renowned Tunisian desert landmark situated near Nefta. It is distinguished by its remarkable "camel's neck" rock formation and its historical significance as a filming location for iconic productions such as Star Wars (Mos Espa) and The English Patient. This site offers surreal landscapes, opportunities for 4x4 adventures, and breathtaking sunsets over the Chott El Gharsa salt flats, thus presenting a unique fusion of natural splendor and cinematic heritage.


Day 6: chott el jerid – douz – matmata - Djerba

 

Following breakfast, we will proceed to Chott el Djerid to observe the sunrise over Tunisia's largest salt lake. This expansive, shimmering salt flat in the Sahara Desert, which desiccates during the summer months, reveals vibrant salt crusts and mirages. It provides a dramatic backdrop for oases and has served as a filming location for Star Wars, connecting desert communities such as Tozeur and Nefta. This substantial endorheic basin, nourished by groundwater, transforms into a shallow, colorful body of water in winter and a vast white expanse in summer, generating striking visual phenomena and sustaining distinctive wildlife, thereby establishing itself as a prominent natural and cultural landmark. 


Douz, a dynamic oasis town in southern Tunisia, is recognized as the "Gateway to the Sahara" due to its strategic position at the periphery of extensive desert dunes. This location provides direct access to camel treks and Quads desert excursions, We will have the possibility to try get access to desert by using the camel or quads riding This excursion offers a rich cultural experience and an opportunity to acquire authentic souvenirs while observing daily life in the desert region.


We will proceed to Tamezret is a historic Berber village situated in southern Tunisia, nestled on the slopes of the Matmata Mountains. It is renowned for its distinctive troglodyte (cave) dwellings, which are carved into the rock, providing natural insulation and offering insight into ancient traditions. We will be sampling their specialized tea, prepared with natural herbs.


Prior to our midday meal, we will be visiting Matmata a distinctive Berber village situated in southern Tunisia. This village is renowned for its ancient, subterranean "troglodyte" dwellings, which are excavated into the earth around expansive pits to create cool, crater-like courtyards with surrounding rooms. These structures offer natural insulation from the desert heat and gained fame as a filming location for Luke Skywalker's home in Star Wars. These unique cave dwellings provide insight into traditional Berber life, with some still occupied, and integrate harmoniously with the stark, lunar landscape.


We will be having lunch at Hôtel Sidi Driss in Matmata an underground Berber hotel renowned as Luke Skywalker's Lars homestead in the original Star Wars film and Attack of the Clones. This establishment features rooms within ancient cave dwellings (troglodyte pits) and a dining area meticulously recreating the movie set's kitchen. While offering basic, affordable lodging, it provides a unique opportunity to dine in a location iconic to Star Wars fans, making it a significant pilgrimage site despite its simple accommodations. 



We will proceed to Djerba and subsequently enjoy a period of relaxation for the remainder of the day at the hotel
